1. Find a niche that suits you
As I said, the entertainment industry is very big, so it becomes a challenge to find clients. So to make your business as relevant as possible, make sure to focus on a specific niche. Say you are interested and comfortable with renting out props for all the plays and dramas in local theater. Then make sure you focus on that only. At least when you are starting out. Once you establish a name, then you can add more and more services as you move forward. This way you get to focus on only one thing, and you can make sure your customers are happy with your services.
2. Find your target market
Finding your target customers is important for any business to start. Make sure you are targetting those who you can serve. Also, pricing should be according to your targetted customers. A well-off client can afford to pay a reasonable amount while a community school or even a government organization are usually tight on budget. So make sure you choose your right target and price according to your clients pocket.
3. Invest in buying better equipment
There is a lot of equipment requires for any business to start. Entertainment businesses are no different. You need to invest more and more on good equipment and make sure they are maintained well. Finding and sticking a single niche helps here. Instead of buying equipment for every niche, you only focus on one and buy what requires for that one. Your client might have all the equipment for that music concert you are proving musicians for, but you still carry them because what if anything stops working?
This is advertisement era. You need to advertise your service to the right customers. Leave no stone unturned to advertise your business. If you are a local business providing service for a specific city, then use local means like newspapers, billboards, and pamphlets. Online ads like Facebook ads with right targetting can also do wonder. Carry business cards with you can give anyone seems interesting. Mention about your business and your services everytime you are talking with someone you are talking to.
Just remember that no matter how much you advertise your business if your clients are not happy you are not going to last longer. The best advertisement is by word of mouth. If you give the best service with the good pricing, they will bring new clients for you. So make sure you provide quality service.
5. Employee those who are passionate about their job
The entertainment industry is not a 9 to 5 desk job. You can not just force yourself to entertain others. This is why it is important to hire those who are not just good at it but passionate about it. If your job is to supply dancers for big parties, then hire the best dancers you can.
Similarly, you need to hire more people than you need. Your employees are also human beings, they also have personal problems. So, it is advisable to employ extra performers for the backup.
