Fan was accused of filing wrong income to tax department for years in order to save tax. Authorities found that Fan used two different contracts, one open and another secret to avoid paying a large amount in tax. Now that authorities have found her guilty and thus she has been ordered to pay 884 million yuan, the equivalent of $130 million and £100 million. $60 million in back tax dues and $70 million in fines. What is Fan Bingbing Scandal

Fan Bingbing

The scandal first came into the public eye when a popular TV host took to the social media to expose a deep tax evasion culture which he said was as “yin-yang” agreement by naming Fan Bingbing. That post caused all the pain for Fan and her followers. There was a huge outrage on social media and news media. In China, celebrities are a big thing. They hold a status of respect and many time Government hire them to promote different government policies. So it was bound to cause outrage. Since after that Fan was held under house arrest and all of her public appearances were kept private.

So, what is “yin-yang” you may ask?

Yin-Yang means creating two contacts one for the public while other is kept private. For instance, in a social media post, a popular Tv host had shared two version of the same contract from one of Fan’s movies. In one contract the price was mentioned $1.7 Million for tax recording purpose while in another contact (secret contract) the actual price paid to Fan was much higher than the $1.7 million mentioned in public. By this formula, Fan was able to avoid paying tax worth $60 million.

House of Cards New Teaser Reveals a Frank Underwood’s Fate: Series Premiers this November

House of Cards

On September 5th Thursday, Netflix shared a teaser on Twitter and revealed what many already had suspected. After removal of the lead character Kevin Spacey who plays Frank Underwood many fans were left guessing as to what the final season would look like. In a 25 seconds long teaser, Netflix seems to have answered that question. In the teaser, Clair Underwood, playing by Robin Wright showed speaking to Frank’s grave making it clear that the Frank Underwood was dead.

Many people had somewhat idea of where this season was heading. Especially in the last season’s final episode, it was clear that Clair would be the next president. So, I guess it wasn’t that hard for Netflix, after all, to deal with the Kevin Spacey’s controversy.

House of Cards

The teaser which was tweeted from the House of Cards official twitter account reads “You should have known.”

Also, the twitter account was tweeting all the characters which were killed in the show.

Last year the show had reached a roadblock when the main character Kevin Spacey was accused of several sexual assaults many on the sets of House of Cards. Following the controversy, Netflix had to sack Kevin Spacey from the show. That incident brought a lot of questions on the fate of House of Cards which by the way one of the most popular shows on Netflix.

In an interview Net-a-Porter’s Ajesh Patalay, Kevin’s co-actor Robin Wright (plays Clair Underwood) had said that the show was “very, very close” to ending. She further said, “Because of the climate at that time. The air was thick, you know. Harvey Weinstein… People were saying ‘We have to shut everything down, or otherwise it will look like we are glorifying and honoring this thing that’s dirty.'” Again it was her who held together the production house and convinced them not to cancel the show while others were suggesting otherwise.

Now the show is set to be premiered on November the 2nd, and we cannot wait to see what this show is bringing next.

What is Kevin Spacey Controversy

Kevin Spacey

On October 29, last year actor Anthony Rapp first alleged that Kevin had made a sexual advance on the actor back in 1986. Kevin quickly apologized the actor while saying that the incident might have been a drunken behavior. Soon fifteen other came out with a similar claim against Kevin. Following the claims, there was a lot of outrage amongst the common people, and Netflix soon felt the heat. With the rage from people, Kevin was removed from the House of Cards as well as “All the Money in the World.” movie.

On September 4th, 2018, a California district attorney ‘s office said that it wouldn’t charge actor Kevin along with Steven Seagal on 1992 sexual assault accusations. Attorney’s office says all the allegations are beyond its statute of limitations as the alleged abuse was back in 1992 and it is beyond the period a charge can be filed.

Kevin or his representatives haven’t issued any comment.

Anyway House of Cards is coming, and it will be interesting to see how the show performs in the absence of its star actor.
